“When we couldn’t be at the table… we created our own.”
This week, while the facilitation world lit up in Bali at the IAF Asia Conference, two chapter leads sat thousands of miles away – one in India, one in Vietnam.
We weren’t among the 200+ delegates exchanging hugs, stories, and hope – filled conversations in person.
Both of us could not travel to Bali for our own personal reasons.
But we showed up – on screen, with hearts full and thumbs up.
📍 IAF India (that’s me !)
📍 IAF Vietnam (that’s Lam Nguyen !)
And in true IAF spirit of collaboration and co – creation, we did what facilitators do best –
We held space for a meaningful dialogue.
- A conversation that lasted over an hour.
- A reflection on the theme: Facilitation for HOPE.
- An exploration of synergies, possibilities, and shared intentions
We talked about our culture.
We talked about our chapters.
We talked about what #facilitation means in a world that’s still healing.
And somewhere between laughter and listening – “we found connection”.
We may have missed the beaches of Bali,
But we didn’t miss the essence of the gathering.
Because sometimes,
Even when you’re far from the spotlight,
You can still light a spark.
So here’s to Lam, my co – conspirator in purpose –
And to everyone who believes in the quiet power of showing up… wherever you are.
Can we create hope, even from a distance?
Yessssss. One conversation at a time !!
