Roots & Wings
Honouring the ones who seeded the movement.
Celebrating the ones who gave us flight.
Post 16 | Hardy Alexander
It was 6:00 in the morning.
The hotel room was still quiet. The city outside had barely awakened.
And there, on the floor, sat Hardy Alexander – carefully creating large posters with chisel markers for the session ahead in the day.
No delegation.ย No drama.
Just presence.ย Care.ย Commitment to the craft.
And in that single moment, without a word being spoken, I learnt a thousand things about leadership:
True leaders never outgrow the basics.
Great facilitators never consider any work beneath them.
That image has stayed with me ever since.
Over the last few years, Iโve had the privilege of serving alongside Hardy as an active volunteer at International Association of Facilitators (IAF) – India.
And the more closely you work with him, the more you discover the depth beneath the simplicity.
Humble.ย Grounded.ย Soft-spoken.ย A deep listener.
And someone who carries leadership with remarkable ease.ย Hardy has this rare ability to make people feel comfortable while simultaneously challenging them to think deeper.
His facilitation style is never performative.
It is steady, thoughtful, and deeply human.
Whether he is coaching senior leaders, facilitating a learning intervention, or simply sitting in conversation – he brings the same quality of attention and respect.
And perhaps that is why people trust him so deeply.
Today, Hardy serves as the Regional Director for IAF Asia – a role he holds with grace and quiet conviction.
And yetโฆ despite all the experience, expertise, and global exposure – he remains deeply connected to people. A true son of the soil!!
My Profound Learning from Hardy:
From Hardy, I learned that facilitation is not only about what happens in front of the room.
It is equally about the care, preparation, humility, and intention that happens before the room even opens.

It was about ownership.
Respect for the process.
And love for the work.Hardy, thank you for your friendship, your leadership, and your unwavering contribution to the #facilitation community.
For the roots you strengthen through humility and service.
And for the wings you offer through inspiration and possibility.
Deep respect for you always
