Sssssssssssssh – said the library teacher.
We all remember our thick spectacled teacher with a frowny look.
She or He had a tough task to manage the books and control the children.
At school, I was drawn to books. And a favourite hour in a week was the ‘library-period’.
Fortunate enough that we had one of the well-stocked library at school.
Walking each aisle in the large hall, pin drop silence and strong whiff of the books are memories etched in my mind.
Each time I lay my hands on books – I get nostalgic on those years of being a voracious reader.
The world of Charles Dicken, Tintin, Enid Blyton series, Phantom n Archies Comics and back home Nandan, Chamapak, Chandamama, Lotpot and many more.
Perhaps – I am a sum total of many of these characters who have inspired me to be what I am today.
There are books close to my heart and there are books in my small home library.
I am hoarder like many. I buy books and don’t read them.
I simply gift them to my friends and colleagues to inculcate habits of reading.
I am also a typical librarian at times – taking few pages of reference from books when I need them.
Or best, I recommend books to people who come to me asking for #clarity.
Someday I know – these books shops will have a book written by me.
And a passer-by, or a keen learner, or a reference seeker, or a hoarder, or someone looking to buy an apt gift will stop by and pick my book.
My book will be out there soon.

And by the way – what books and comics were you reading during your school days ????
