For reasons best known I was drawn to avian friends ( birds ) during my childhood and later took to active bird watching as a hobby.

Birds are inherently captivating aesthetically, exhibiting near infinite colors, forms and plumage variations.

There are more than 10,000 species of birds in the world, and every region has special (endemic) birds that occur nowhere else.

Birders are a community, and while birding in solitude can be a great form of meditation, it can also be emotionally rewarding to share a (non-stressful) relationship with those who share your passion.

During my 20 plus years of watching birds through my binoculars, I have come across some of the finest individuals, wonderful human beings and great leaders.

Some are good at seeing the first motions of a bird in the trees.

Some excel at getting their binoculars onto the bird quickly and explaining where it is.

Some can describe the bird in great detail, which is essential to identifying its species.
And others have terrific memory recall, so that they can relay all the species we saw at the drop of a hat.

Watching birds can help you build focus and excellent concentration abilities.
It is reflective, offers you deeper insights about the nature and gives you an opportunities to learn from your colleagues.
