Coffee. A Book. And a Quiet Lesson for Coaches.
It’s become a bit of a ritual.
Every time I’m at an airport – there’s always a ☕ coffee on the table.
And a new book by my side.
This time, the bright yellow cover caught my eye: “Stop Overthinking.”
I smiled.
Because it wasn’t just the title of a 📖 book – it was a gentle nudge for me.

As coaches, we are trained to listen. To stay present. To hold space.
But let’s be honest – sometimes, even we start overthinking.
-“Am I asking the right question?”
-“Is there an insight happening?”
-“Should I push a little more?”
And in that moment, something clicked.

Coaching is not a performance. No. No. No.
It’s not a rush to get to the ‘aha’ moment.
It’s a presence. A rhythm. A quiet invitation.

As a coach, I’ve come to believe this deeply:
The real impact doesn’t come from the doing of coaching – it comes from the being.

  • When we drop the need to be impressive…
  • When we stop mentally scripting our next question…
  • When we let go of the pressure to create magic in every session…

“That’s when the real work begins”

Because our clients don’t need fireworks.
They need a clear space, held with intention.
They need someone who can be fully there – not with answers, but with presence!!

The ICF core competency of “Coaching Presence” isn’t about just showing up.
It’s about being available.
Fully – Emotionally – Energetically – Quietly – Wholly.

And so, this book wasn’t just a read.
It was a reminder – to slow down. To trust the process.
And to honor the powerful simplicity of just being there for someone, fully.

As I took that first sip of coffee and turned the page, I smiled again…..

What do you need to “stop overthinking” today – to show up fully for the person sitting across you??
