My wife took to gardening 8 months back – carefully selecting pots of different sizes, plants of all varieties and putting them together in our small courtyard. And now this is our new location for morning tea and meditation.
There are stories around every pot, every plant. The smile and cheer that comes with every new leaf is priceless. The heart ache every drying plant gives, the bond that develops with them, the stories that surface over passage of time have formed great memories.
Spending time with plants is an act of love and teaches us to love life in all the different forms it takes. People like my wife – who spend time with the plants are a unique blend of patience, vision, creativity, wisdom and kindness.
She reminded me of Kate Morton who said “it was such a pleasure to sink one’s hand into the warm earth, to feel at one’s fingertips the possibilities of the new season.”
