“When the Wall Was Taken Down, But the Workshop Rose Higher”

It was all going as planned… until it wasn’t.

A five-star property.
A two-day #leadership offsite.
Everything ready. Energy high.

Except one thing – the hotel didn’t allow me to put up my sticky wall.

Yesssss – ‘my sacred facilitation tool’ – the very canvas that holds the wisdom of the room.

For a moment, everything froze.
And then… #resourcefulness walked in.

With a little help, I wrapped a strip of dark cloth around a wooden aisle board lying in the corner.

Improvised. Adjusted.
And transformed it into a make-shift sticky wall.

No complaints. No noise.
Just presence of mind. And a quiet resolve to keep the process alive.

Across two days, as conversations deepened and insights unfolded, I gently moved the sticky notes – one by one –  from one thought to another, from one cluster to the next.

The wall may have been makeshift,
but what happened in the room was nothing short of transformational.

“When the wall was denied, resourcefulness became the room – and what emerged was not just a session, but a shared story of resilience, reflection, and remarkable outcomes.

What appeared was :

– Meaningful dialogue.
– Shared reflections.
-A collective harvest of rich ideas.

And above all, a room full of leaders who experienced the power of process – not in perfection, but in presence.

As facilitators and leaders alike, we must remember –
Our greatest strength isn’t the tools we carry.

  • It’s the presence we bring.
  • The adaptability we embody.
  • And the space we create – no matter the constraints.

I walked out with a smile.
Not because everything went to plan…
But because we had happy outcomes and happy Leaders walk out of the room.

“What’s the one moment your resourcefulness rose above the chaos – and quietly taught you the true meaning of presence under pressure??”
