Roots & Wings

Honouring the ones who seeded the movement.
Celebrating the ones who gave us flight.

Post 8 | Sanjay Dugar, CPF – M
Some facilitators teach you how to facilitate.
Some help you see why facilitation matters.
And a rare few gently shape who you become as a facilitator.

Sanjay Dugar is one of those rare few.
Thoughtful. Deeply read. Effortlessly articulate.

Sanjay has a way of creating learning spaces that feel calm, welcoming, and quietly powerful.

There is never a rush – only a steady invitation to slow down, reflect, and see more clearly.
Watching him facilitate, one senses a beautiful balance.

Structure without stiffness.
Depth without heaviness.
Wisdom without display.

Through his much-loved ORID framework, Sanjay guides groups with a steady hand –
helping them move from observation to reflection, meaning to choice.
The process feels simple, almost obvious – until you realise how much clarity it has created.

Sanjay is often spoken of as a living, legendary example of the Being of a Facilitator.
And rightly so.
His presence reassures.
His questions invite honesty.
And his smile – warm and infectious – reminds you that learning can be both serious and joyful.

Over the years, Sanjay has offered himself generously to the IAF community –
serving in many capacities: as Conference Chair, Chapter Chair, Regional Director – Asia, mentor to the India Chapter, and as the author of “The Facilitative Leader” – a book that continues to guide and ground many of us.
He also pioneered and led FAC101 for IAF India – opening doors for countless facilitators to enter the profession with confidence and clarity.

Yet what stands out most is not the list of roles he has held,
but the spirit with which he has served.
Always with humility.
Always with thoughtfulness.
Always with the collective in mind.

To be in Sanjay’s circle is to feel subtly changed.
You listen a little more closely.
You think a little more carefully.
You lead with a little more grace.

My Profound Learning from Sanjay:
“Great facilitation balances structure with soul.”
From Sanjay, I learned that frameworks don’t constrain conversations  –
they liberate them, when held with wisdom and humility.

Sanjay, thank you for being a torchbearer –
and more importantly, a beacon.
For the roots you strengthened through institution – building.
For the wings you offered by mentoring, teaching, and modelling excellence.
Your smile inspires.
Your wisdom endures.

With gratitude and respect.
